Large Letters


What can I send?
Everyday items like unfolded A4 letters and documents, brochures and magazines, CDs and DVDs will be classed as large letter items.

What size?
The maximum dimensions for large letter are: 

  • length 353mm
  • width 250mm
  • depth 25mm
Exceptions:
  • The maximum depth of 25mm doesn't apply to Royal Mail Heavyweight items.
  • Automated Standard Tariff Large Letter maximum dimensions are:
    - length 324mm
    - width 229mm
    - depth 10mm
If your items are larger than this, they will be priced as:
  • an A3 packet, only if you use Mailsort® 1400, Pressteam® or Walksort® and the items fall within the size and weight specifications for an A3 packet; or
  • a packet.

Magazines


How heavy?
The maximum weight for large letter items is 750g. If your items are heavier than this, they will be priced as a packet.

Exceptions:
  • Big Book large letters weigh more than 750g up to 1.5kg.
  • Royal Mail Heavyweight large letters weigh more than 750g up to 3kg.
